Frequently asked questions

  • This is a term used when describing the use of methods and wisdom gained by shamans. The idea of a shaman varies by culture and geographic location. Anthropologically, shaman has become the umbrella term to describe what would be a society’s medicine person or healer. Saying shaman or shamanic does not clearly delineate the practices and beliefs being used as each culture is unique. Many methods involve working directly with the soul, nature, and sometimes higher powers like Mother Earth, Grandmother Moon, or other deities to help their communities find balance, meaning, and health.

I focus on the Peruvian Medicine Wheel for personal healing and practice methods as taught by the Four Winds Society and Sky Spirit Shamans. This lineage extends from the Q’ero and other mysticisms in the Andes Mountains. The beliefs are focused on finding balance (ayni), meaning, and oneness with Spirit and ancestors by embodying four perspectives; The Great Serpent, Mother Jaguar, Hummingbird, and Condor and becoming a Full Mesa Carrier. With shamanic work, I work with 9 chakras and the Luminous Energy Field. As intuited, I also include star families, ascended masters, and stargate meditations.

I always pair shamanic methods with reiki to give the most relaxing, sacred, and powerful experience possible. Sacred Space is also always open during sessions to ensure the space has every component available to support safe healing and nothing less. I don’t always pair reiki with shamanic practices which is why I offer Reiki-only sessions.

  • Reiki is a Japanese healing technique used for stress reduction and relaxation which in turn promotes the body’s natural healing mechanisms. It can also be paired with other healing techniques to further emphasize the healing effectiveness whether this is with other spiritual methods or even western medicine. Reiki is becoming more and more commonplace in hospitals to help patients recover from surgery and in cancer wards to support individuals receiving chemotherapy. The word itself means Spiritually Guided Life Force and is built on the belief that energy resides within and through the whole universe. As our individual life forces dim from the natural interactions of the day to day or from traumatic events, our body is more likely to feel stressed, get sick, and experience unexplainable pain. If our energy is free flowing and bright, then we have an easier time with positivity, happiness, and making healthy choices. There are several types of reiki that have been used for the last 100 years or more. The form used here is Usui/Holy Fire III. More can be learned at the International Reiki Institute.

I use reiki to focus on clearing the aura and balancing the 7 chakras after setting an intention for the healing to focus on. An example of an intentional healing could be “to reduce pain in my back”, “to stop smoking”, “to relieve depression and anxiety”, “to help me keep feeling excited for life”.

  • Everyone experiences it differently but most commonly people feel a little cold (I provide blankets), may feel a comfortable buzzing, or gentle muscle twitching. The energy is simply moving through the many layers of your body and releasing blocks or quickening stagnant energy. Most people reach a new meditative state that they are not used to which is why this is considered a stress reduction and relaxation technique. After a session most people feel energized, positive, and ready to take on the world. Sometimes, when a lot is released at once it’s possible to have cold-like symptoms for a day or two. Your body physically releases toxins that were stuck within your muscles and fascia into your bloodstream which can make your liver suddenly work more than expected. Neither experience is right or wrong, it simply is. Just like when receiving massages or doing saunas, it’s important to take it easy the following day, drink lots of water, and care for yourself as you integrate the healing session.

I can provide ideas for how to best integrate and I’m always available in between sessions to answer questions.

  • Yes! No one has to change their belief system to receive or practice reiki. It is spiritual in nature but does not involve worship and does not deal with concepts of good/bad or heaven/hell. Reiki calls upon universal life energy to flow into the practitioner, out their hands, and to the client with consent to receive. For more information on how Christianity and Reiki pair, please see this International Reiki Institute FAQ.

Reiki is also completely consensual. If you don’t want to receive reiki, it won’t matter how much I send to you, it will not go into your field. You have complete control in what you allow into your space. I typically am able to tell how open your aura is or not and address it to see what may be keeping you in a protective state.

  • What I practice could be described as a Goddess-based or Earth-based religion but you do not need to give up your God or practices to receive this as well. It’s more of an open door and allows for everyone’s unique beliefs to shape their practice. I ask that you ask as many questions as you’d like, and to keep an open mind. The biggest difference I can highlight is that most modern day religions believe humans were kicked out of the Garden of Eden but I believe we never left that Garden and women were not a doom to society.

With shamanic work, I illuminate 9 chakras including our Halo. If you believe we are made in God’s image then I encourage you to consider that to be completely true. Including us having innate magic just by being human. Able to lay hands, just as Jesus did, and heal those around us. The closer we become to Earth and each other, the more we remember our godliness, our oneness, our compassion, our love.

We are magic, we are whole, we are perfect as we are. We do not need saving so much as we need healing and reconnection with our universe. We are not separate as we are usually raised to believe. I often work with gods, angels, and deities of many different religions and can cultivate your experience to include those that you practice with and maybe some that you haven’t considered. I believe this is what many prophets were about. They took time to themselves, often going into mountains alone, and fasting for days or weeks. Reconnecting with the earth’s cycles and their human capacity only to come back to society reconnected with their magic, compassion, and a profound sense of how others should be treated.

  • Sound is made of various vibrations (or waves and frequencies). Our bodies, skin, organs, and brain waves also have their own vibrations. We can use different sounds to entrain our body and heart to know that it is safe, can release anxiety, can move emotion through the body, and help us reach theta and delta brain wave states which are our meditative and sleep states respectively. My certification allows me to consciously choose instruments based on your current state of being and help you either move through to a peaceful state (the parasympathetic nervous system) or to a state where you can actually confront and move through emotions (the sympathetic state, if you were initially in a freeze state). I will play instruments for you in an intuitive session while you meditate and allow the frequencies to move through you.
